MT: Militant Translators plan retirement
Friday, 16 November 2007
Opticentre continues its assault on static translators and inefficient ‘agencies’ by joining the Euromatrix project which aims to create statistical translation systems between all European languages .
“Our immediate aim is to create and publish corpora in restriction-free formats using standard algorithms which can then be added-on by any CAT tools provider, “ said Joseph Deignan CEO of Opticentre. “For too long greedy, incompetent, technophobic translators have restricted content localization into the languages they claim to love by actively blocking any implementation of emancipating technology thus creating a supply vacuum and distorting ROI”.
Priority languages are Irish (Gaelic), Czech, Slovak, Icelandic and Maltese with the first two ready for customer beat testing in January 2008. Opticentre has inhouse editing teams in each of these languages to ensure that the maximum human time is spent perfecting the quality of the output.
