PASSOLO Editions
Professional Edition
As a stand-alone solution, the Professional Edition is particularly suited for localization of medium to large sized projects. Its extended functionality supports operations covering compound modules. With the optional Add-Ins for TM systems and terminology programs, translation data can be exported to external programs for use in translating the relevant manuals and online help.
The VBA compatible development environment can be used to quickly and efficiently adapt the system to custom data formats or special test requirements. Using the OLE Automation interface, the Professional Edition can be integrated into workflow systems. For the exchange of data with external translators, text format or the optional data formats for the respective TM systems are used. Adaptation and testing of dialogs is carried out internally.
In conjunction with other PASSOLO systems, the Professional Edition can be used as a macro development workstation. It includes a Microsoft VBA compatible script language and comes with a complete development environment with editor and debugger. Moreover, the Professional Edition can be used for data exchange with other systems. Data can be exported via the optional Add-Ins for TM systems and exchanged with other PASSOLO systems in the form of translation bundles. These can be processed using the Standard Edition, and may include glossaries for the translation and macros that add extended functionality to the Standard Edition.
Team Edition
As a stand-alone solution, the Team Edition offers the same functions as the Professional Edition. Additionally, the Team Edition can be used to create and administrate a certain number of translation bundles. These translation bundles can be processed using the free Translator Edition, which includes all the required functions. Thus, with a single software license it is possible to delegate entire projects to external translators, including the task of adapting and testing the dialog layouts. This is the ideal solution for the localization of large projects involving numerous external translators. All that has to be done internally is QA the translations and then generate and test the target programs.
In conjunction with other PASSOLO systems, the Team Edition can serve as the central system for administration of localization projects with external translators. The projects can be prepared using other PASSOLO systems and then handed over to the Team Edition. The translation bundles are then exported and distributed, and subsequently reimported following translation. Depending on the workload, there are versions available with different numbers of translation bundles that can be generated at any given time. After the translation bundles are reimported, the localization projects are transferred back to the original PASSOLO systems for quality assurance, testing and generation of the target files.
Free Translator Edition
The Translator Edition is a free editor for translators. It can be downloaded here. Only translation bundles created with the Team Edition can be edited with the Translator Edition. Thus, all the members of a project team can make use of PASSOLO's powerful functionality without having to purchase a software license. The Translator Edition cannot parse source files or generate target files, but it offers all the other functions for processing translation bundles. It includes all the editors and test functions required to guarantee top quality translations.
