What is Desktop publishing?

As a rule, desktop publishing specialists working for localization vendors will not have the responsibility of creating material or designs on a localized manual or document. They are mainly responsible for reproducing a layout in multiple languages, will all technical and cultural adaptation necessary.
DTP operators working in localization have a wide range of tasks and responsibilities, including:

  • Evaluating and setting up the documentation project
  • Generation books in multiple languages
  • Fixing the layout of translated material
  • Editing graphics
  • Converting or generating output of translated material in multiple formats
  • Performing quality checks on finalized translated material

DTP operators generally need to have knowledge of multiple operating systems, utilities, translation tools, publishing applications, and localization models.
